One of my favourite things that I look for when I'm shooting is movement and colour. The Fair is the perfect place providing both a challenge and an opportunity for interesting shots with an abundance of changeable light and bright, inconsistent colours as well as the real obstacle - thousands of people all in one location who care not for your photography goals. It really requires a lot of patience, concentration and often a stroke of luck to really nail a shot. I decided this year to try and stick mostly to a slow shutter speed to capture the chaotic nature, energy and mood of the event. I was at first disappointed that I didn't 'nail' more of my slow shutter shots but as time went on the slight and sometimes dramatic and abstract sense of movement really grew on me. Considering I was shooting at very high ISOs at sunset and beyond, I really needed to throw the idea of perfection out the window.
